The Wilhelmsen lab works closely with the the RENCI Bioinformatics group which is also led by Kirk Wilhelmsen MD PhD. The group bring together expertise in neurology, molecular biology, human genetics and computer science.

The goal of the Wilhelmsen lab is to annotate the human genome using data intensive strategies. The groups effort in human genetics is focused on behavior and neurodegeneration. Most of the effort of the group is on analysis of very large data sets and the development of new analytic approaches.

The RENCI bioinformatics groups provide data intensive informatics approaches to support multidisciplinary research projects at the three triangle campuses. The current focus of this activity is to support genomics research. Technical report reports are available for some of our activities.
